How It All Started
It was one early spring NASCAR race in 2018 at Texas Motor Speedway. The weather was cold and rainy. The party vibe was ruined. As they stood around a tiny space heater, Doug turned to Rick and said, "We need something climate controlled, so we can party regardless of the weather."
Rick asked what he was thinking. Doug replied, "A school bus that we turn into a rolling karaoke bar!" Lots of skeptical words came from Rick — to which Doug rebutted every one. Finally, Rick conceded and said, "You find the bus, and I'll help you build it."
Two months later, Doug found a 1992 school bus for $2,000. He got it home and running for another $1,700. In July of 2018, Doug took out the last few rows of seats to accommodate his Harley and headed to Boerne to Rick's place.
It ended up being the hottest day of the summer that year — and of course, the bus had no AC. Doug didn't realize the heater was also running full blast on the way down...
